Captain Mike at Tartan II told me bottom fishing has been really great lately with his crews catching plenty of scup and sea bass and bluefish with sharks mixed in to keep things fun. The bottom fishing has continued to get better and better over the last few weeks. The scup they are seeing are both numerous and large making for some lights out action. Sea bass fishing has been good with a mix of sizes but plenty of keepers to fill up the fish box. Bluefish action has been steady and they are hoping to see a good fall run of bass when temperatures start to nudge down and the sharks depart the region. Speaking of sharks, his crews have enjoyed tugging on them for most trips to round things out. The fall run is coming and Captain Mike and his crew are looking forward to another great fall fishing season. They will run charters as scheduled with open boats on Tuesdays and Thursdays for bottom fishing as well as open boat striper trips on Fridays at 4 p.m. so give him a call now to book your prime dates.

Captain Mike at Tartan II said they are spending their trips bottom fishing as well as targeting mixed sized bluefish with a few stripers mixed in. Bottom fishing has been the bread and butter for most trips lately as the scup fishing is very good and sea bass keeps improving. His crews are pounding on porgies with some nice sized jumbos in the mix. Sea bass catches continue to get bigger and better after a somewhat slow start to the season. They are seeing mixed sizes of bluefish making for tight lines and sore arms most trips. While the bass seemed to go M.I.A. for a week or two, they now have some school and slot sized fish mixed in with the blues. They will run charters as scheduled with open boats on Tuesdays and Thursdays for bottom fishing as well as open boat striper trips on Fridays at 4 p.m. Late summer fishing is in full swing in the eastern sound so give Captain Mike a call now to book your prime dates.
