Ken over at Tight Lines Tackle on the South Fork reported striper can still be picked from the jetty at Shinnecock Inlet after dark on eels. Bluefish are still in numbers during the day. Ken was happy to say that triggerfish have showed up in Shinnecock near the rocks. Clams and squid are doing the trick.

Kenny from Tight Lines Tackle in Southampton let me know he has not heard of very much from sttriped bass with the exception of stripers from the Race from Bill Pell. The fish were up to 25 pounds and caught on All Pro Flutter spoons. Chris Remkes and his crew came in from Atlantis from an overnight. They had a slow night of chunking but had one yellowfin of 76 pounds. They had an insane day of targeting big eyes and brought a 187-pounder home. They also went out on Wednesday for a long day. They went to the outer Butterfish Hole for nothing. They ran west and found a bunch of bluefin tuna in the 50 to 70 pound class on poppers.

Ken over at Tight Lines Tackle on the South Fork reported the summer pattern has taken hold at Shinncock Inlet with bass becoming more nocturnal, hitting on bucktails and rubber shads. Bluefish are still numerous during the day. He said a few of his customers were talking about a couple of resident thresher sharks roaming along the inlet during the day. One of about 8 feet and one larger.

Kenny from Tight Lines Tackle in Southampton let me know of his first couple of tuna reports. He’s hearing of yellowfins, bluefins, and bigeyes. He has a whole assortment of setups and baits for tuna. He will be getting butterfish soon too. Bassing is still hot in Montauk according to Kenny but the bluefish are dominating the scene. Peconics still full of life with porgies and weakfish to over 20 inches. Fluking has been on the slower side in Shinnecock but he knew that Montauk doing better.
