Steve Haas over at Up Front Bait and Tackle echoed the reports we have been getting of a very good week of striped bass fishing. He too said the bass are all over the bay and you have to pick through at lot of fish you can’t week to get a keeper. On the fluke fishing front he said anglers have been catching fluke but here too keepers have been at a premium. I asked Steve if he has heard of weakfish, blues, spot or other fish being caught and he told me the only other fish he heard of were some blues that were caught by striper fishermen. However for the most part they are only small pods moving around in the bay.

It was an interesting week of fishing along the northern coast this past week according to Steve Haas at Up Front Bait and Tackle. He too said it looks like the full moon stoked up the striped bass fishing and since the full moon anglers have been catching and releasing fluke on shads. Hopefully this means we will have a good fluke opener on Monday. Water temps in the bay are in the mid-50s however in the shallows the water temps are warmer and it’s a good bet most of the fluke will be caught in the shallows along the south side of the bay on Monday and the rest of the week.
