A call to Mike over at Wagner’s Marina got us a couple fishing reports and a few choice words for the weather. He said there’s still plenty of baitfish around and fish like snappers, cocktails and croakers are still in good numbers as well. Bluefish, bonito and albies are also cruising the waters just off the beaches but the recent weather kept boats at the dock. Mike said if we are to have good fishing in October we are going to have some better weather conditions that will allow boats to sail especially with the fuel prices so high.

Boats sailing out of Wagner’s Marina this past week got into some good fishing. Paul told me the marina held a fluke contest on Saturday with 30 boats at the marina competing. The winner was “Tommy Fishtails” 9-pound fluke. Paul said all the boats that competed had fish.

Wagner's Marina of Cliffwood, NJ was established in 1968 by Mike Wagner Sr. with a capacity of only 10 slips. Over the years, many changes have taken place, starting with the marina going to the next generation of Wagner’s, Mike Jr. and Tom. The duo has overcome the many obstacles and horrific storms that have battered and destroyed Wagner's Marina, especially the most recent "Super Storm Sandy". Through their knowledge and perseverance, they have managed to rebuild and improve the entire facility. Rest assured, your boating experience at Wagner's Marina is in the best possible hands. Today, the marina has 250 slips along with 40 rack storage spaces and a fully stocked ship store with a complete line of Mercury and MercCruiser parts. Wagner’s boats a full service parts and repair center and is a certified dealer in Mercury Precision Parts and MerCruiser engines and Mercury Outboards. All repairs are completed by certified mechanics. Marina amenities include a bath house, restrooms and showers, and the Blue Rock Cafe which hosts nightly entertainment. Contact the boys at Wagner’s to learn about their dock and dining slips and be sure to visit their gazebo overlooking the marina for relaxation after a long day on the boat. During the off season, dry land storage as well as complete winterization, shrink wrapping, storage, and pressure washing are offered through Wagner’s. Ice and launch ramps are available on site.
