There are lots of flounder in the bay right now according to Waterfront Marine, but you have to pick through a lot of short fish to find some keepers. Minnow and squid or spearing and squid combos have been the top producing baits, scoring dozens of shorts and keepers to 23 inches. Outgoing has been the dominant tide which is showing water temps around 5 degrees warmer than the incoming tides. Bycatches have included some nice eating size bluefish in the 2- to 4-pound size range. At night, the local bridges and piers are seeing stripers feeding in the shadowlines. Anglers are finding fish to 26 inches on quarter-ounce leadheads tipped with 3-inch Gulp Mullets with pink or nuclear chicken top colors.

Waterfront Marine reports that the flounder action in the bay has been mostly short fish with a keeper “here and there”. Mid-week saw some nicer weather and anglers found many more keeper size fish. Top baits were live minnows or spearing and strip bait combos. Some larger blues have made their way into the bay and are being caught on both hard and soft plastics with the best bite being just after sunrise. The Ocean City Reef Site is loaded with sea bass, but the keeper ratio was “dismal” according to customer reports this week.
