Three generations of Fisherman readers spent a day on the water with Capt. Carl of Westport River Outfitters who said the father, son and grandson were more than pleased with the adventure and the mixed bag of species they caught. There are bones, sea bass, jumbo scup and stripers and bluefish that have been surface feeding most of the time. Give Carl a call and take your own Westport adventure.

It was a productive trip for Capt. Carl with Westport River Outfitters who said he decided to take a family trip and head out on a calm day in search of tuna. He didn’t have to run much further then Coxes Ledge before his daughter Tara was tight to a 10-pound mahi and he and his brother were hooked up to a few blue runners and a couple of legal sized black sea bass. It was a busman’s holiday under excellent conditions and on the way home they stopped at a few of his favorite tog rockpiles and found some of the small blues and mixed with bones on top in his haunts in upper Buzzards Bay. His brother also caught a 20-inch legal summer flounder. He has some openings for any species you would care to catch and he can trailer his solid rig to most nearby locations.
