The tautog and a few legal sized sea bass have moved in a lot closer to the Westport rockpiles according to Capt. Carl with Westport River Outfitters who said the bottom fishing was good but the wind and rain and sudden drop in temperatures had temporarily quieted what was a good topwater bite. The next six weeks should produce very good fishing from Buzzards Bay to Newport. Give the skipper a call and get in on some great fall fishing.

Capt. Carl with Westport River Outfitters said the wind and waves were factors toward the end of the week so he fished less than a mile off the beach and missed the brunt of the blow. He scratched up tautog, a few nice sea bass and a bonito. This is where he fills his bride’s requests for that fresh saltwater protein. Give him a call to get aboard the boat during the last several weeks and some of the best fishing of the season.
