Long Island’s surfcasters will be happy to know that we just received word NYS Parks has reopened the ocean side of Democrat Point to 4-wheel drive access, effective Friday evening, July 26, at 5 p.m. The beach is accessible before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m. only. After Labor Day weekend it should be open 24/7.
