It’s late fall in Montgomery, NY and all the fall foliage is giving the mountains and valleys a colorful blanket of reds, oranges and yellows. I’m driving down country roads towards my fishing destination for today. The morning has greeted me with a cold chill and the temperature is lingering in the low forties.
I can’t help but think that fishing might be a little tough today but I’m confident that it’s going to be a good trip besides the cold temperatures. I’m fishing with the first family of custom bike building, the guys from Orange County Choppers. Paul Teutul Sr. and his Nephew Nick Mariconi who are excited about their return back to TV this winter on the series Orange County Choppers: American Made premiering on A&E this winter.
As I arrived at the front gate of Paul Sr’s. home I was met by Nick and he had me follow him up to Paul’s private lake. The lake was a good size and looked very promising. Paul Sr. was waiting on the dock and we immediately started to talk fishing. He takes great pride in all he does whether it’s custom bike building or managing a healthy lake. The lake was equipped with aerators and also had a fish feeder that keeps these OCC fish fed! Nick told me that Paul Sr. really gets upset if they lose a fish or if one gets hook badly.
We talked about our favorite baits to throw in the fall and selected some plastics and one of my favorite baits the Z—Man Chatterbait. The cold weather this weekend did not affect the lake at all and we all managed to catch some good fish. Nick told me that they are a very competitive family even on the water, they always bust each other on who’s the better angler. I found out that these guys can really fish besides building some of the hottest bikes on the planet!
Fishing plays a huge part in their lives and is a release from the demands of work. It’s something everyone can relate to and identify with. At the end of a work day to get out on the water and make a few casts can really help. With the shooting schedules of the new series and the custom builds, they are out on the water a lot.
In the new series Orange County Choppers: American Made premiering on A&E this winter, you will see more than just custom builds. You will see life outside of the OCC shop and even get to see an OCC fishing trip! They even managed to get Paul Sr. to wear a suit and tie that was not sleeveless.
The family element is very present in all the episodes. We have some crazy bike builds in store for all the fans and some crazier antics from the cast of characters in the OCC shop! From building some of the hottest bikes on the planet to getting their hookset on they know how to keep it real. They work hard and fish harder. Make sure you tune in this winter and catch the new series.
