NEW YORK SPORTFISHING FEDERATION FORUM & AUCTION
The New York Sportfishing Federation will be hosting their 36th Annual Forum & Auction at the Freeport Recreation Center on Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17. Show hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, with the big auction kicking off at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Among the many items up for bid will be custom rods, reels, lures, books and videos, photos, apparel, and charter and party boat trips. The Federation is also raffling off a free trip to Tanaku Lodge in Alaska. Tickets are $10 and only 500 will be sold.
The show features free ongoing seminars by local inshore and offshore experts including Captains Tom Mikoleski, Phil Kess, Bob Rocchetta, John Paduano, Ken Hejducek, Tim O’Rourke and John Capuano. Matt Broderick and Jason Brunder will be covering surf fishing, and Tom Schlichter will be speaking on freshwater fishing.
Admission is $12, $10 for kids and seniors, and children under 12 are free. The Freeport Recreation Center is located at 130 E. Merrick Road in Freeport, less than half mile west of Exit M9W off of Meadowbrook Parkway. Parking is free. For more info, contact Capt. Joe Paradiso at 631-786-8418.
ALLPRO FISHING EXPO & SEMINAR
AllPro Charters is hosting their 2nd Annual AllPro Fishing Expo & Seminar this Sunday, February 17 and Monday, February 18 at the Huntington Hilton Hotel, 598 Broadhollow Rd, Melville, New York. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. It will take place in the 10,000 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom of the hotel.
Sunday’s show will be honoring the military, law enforcement and first responders. Representatives from all agencies will be there with boats, trucks and cars. Hooks for Heroes will also be present. Monday is Family Day. One hundred rods and reels will be given away to kids from 8 to 16 years old. There will also be hundreds of other giveaways, face painting and a free photo booth.
YouTube sensation Darcizzle will be there both days, along with the AllPro Mermaids. The list of vendors includes leading manufactures, local tackle shops, custom lure makers and a wide range of other water, fishing, and boating related merchants.
The show’s fishing workshops will be presented by expert anglers such as Captains Al Lorenzetti, Nick Savene, Tony Gatto, Kirk Fay, Christian Cahill and John McMurray. Also presenting workshops will be Tony (Maja) Arcabascio Jr., Matt Broderick, Nicole Gaines, Jason Brunder, Roger Williams and News 12 Meteorologist Richard Von Ohlen. There will also be a Roundtable where you can ask the questions and the experts will answer them. Workshop tickets include buffet breakfast, 2 days fishing expo tickets, 5 free raffle tickets, tackle box valued in excess of $35, AllPro visor, bag of All-American STINK Big Daddy Grubs, 110 yards of 30-pound mono.
