GARDEN STATE OUTDOOR SPORTS SHOW

The tri-state region’s 2019 outdoor show season gets underway this Thursday through Sunday with the Garden State Outdoor Sports Show at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center in Edison, NJ. Show hours are Thursday and Friday, January 10 and 11 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, January 12 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 13 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The World Famous Hawg Trough returns this year, a 5,000 gallon aquarium where audience members get expert information while watching the bass professionals using various techniques in catching fish right before their eyes. The younger ones will also enjoy the catch and release trout pond!

The Garden State Outdoor Sports Show features fishing and hunting exhibitors from throughout North America, along with some of the top names in the outdoor industry including bass pro Mike “Ike” Iconelli and American Fly Fishing School’s (AFFS) Mike Corblies. The AFFS Pond is open for Vendors and Attendees to cast rods; show Attendees can learn to cast from Capt. Mike, Bill Haldaman on both days plus Allan Johnson on Friday and other local pros. Kid’s can sign up for the Saturday & Sunday Competition and practice on Thursday and Friday in the Pond.

Fishing seminars you won’t want to miss include Capt. Clyde Goose (Catching More Crappie) and Capt. Jim Freda (NJ Bluefin in Midshore Waters) on Thursday at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively, with Nick Honachefsky (Surf and Shorebound Striped Bass and Bluefish) and Richard King (IBSP Ecology and Saltwater Fly Fishing) on Friday at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively.

On Saturday, Honachefsky hits the main ballroom stage again at 4 p.m., followed by Capt. Jim Freda at 5 p.m., surfcaster DJ Muller (Reading the Water to Catch More Fish) at 6 p.m. and Capt. Clyde’s Catching More Crappie seminar at 7 p.m. Sunday, join the Round Valley Trout Association for Round Valley Reservoir Trolling Tactics at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., with Capt. Austin Perilli (Hard Structure Fluking) at 1:30.

The 36th Garden State Outdoor Sports Show welcomes the return of the tackle time pavilion, expanded hunting & fishing pavilion and the always popular NJDEP deer classic. This year’s show will continue Outdoor Sports Groups pledge to provide a forum for the entire family and the next generation of the outdoor enthusiasts.

The New Jersey Convention and Expo Center is located at 97 Sunfield Avenue in Edison, NJ at the crossroads of the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. It is just off Route 440, minutes from US Route 1 and I-287, as well as the Outerbridge Crossing and Staten Island. As always, parking is free.
