HOW-TO: RIG AN EELSKIN PLUG

Call it an old-school technique, sharpie trick or whatever you choose, skinning an eel and draping the skin over a plug is a great way to tempt striped bass in the surf. What’s even better, the eel skin plug has an ability to draw strikes on nights when the fish seem to turn their nose up at all other offerings. They’re equally effective on the full moon as they are on dark, stormy nights and should be a part of your arsenal.

In this video, Toby Lapinski shows how he securely attaches a prepared skin to a wooden saltwater plug, how it looks in the water, and he lends some tips on how he stores the prepared plug in-between outings.
