KENT FALLS STATE PARK CLOSED - The Fisherman

KENT FALLS STATE PARK CLOSED

The following public notice was received from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Inland Fisheries Division.

The Inland Fisheries Division would like to pass along some important information regarding access at Kent Falls State Park, in Kent. Due to ongoing renovations at the park, it is currently closed for public access and will remain closed until further notice.

As a result of the closure and the prohibition on public access, the Inland Fisheries Division will not be able to stock the parkwith Trout prior to opening day of fishing on Saturday April 20th, 2013. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that with advanced notice you can make alternative plans to fish in other nearby waters. Some similar small streams with good access include Macedonia Brook (Kent), East Aspetuck River (New Milford), Carse Brook (Sharon), and Mill Brook (Cornwall). For additional waters please see the Angler’s Guide or the list of on-line trout stocking location maps at www.ct.gov/deep/fishing.

IFD will notify you as soon as renovations are complete and the public has normal access. At this point we anticipate that the park will be opened in early May. The park will be open for “Free Fishing Day”, which is Saturday May 11, 2013. Please stop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. as the Northwest Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be on hand with fly fishing demonstrations and to provide general assistance to those new to angling.
