LAKE HOPATCONG SEEKS TROUT

Due to the problems with diseased fish at their Pequest Trout Hatchery, the Div. of Fish & Wildlife just informed the Knee Deep Club that Lake Hopatcong would only receive one stocking of trout this year, thus reducing our allotment of state trout by over 7,000! With very little time to come up with a solution to this major setback, the Knee Deep Club reached out to the Lake Hopatcong Foundation who quickly and very generously offered to set up a one time $5,000 matching grant.

That means any donation that the Knee Deep Club can collect before our scheduled April 26, 2014 stocking will be matched, up to $5,000. We are asking all club members, local businesses and other supporters to make a donation to this worthy cause. Trout fishing has long represented the beginning of the fishing season but it is well understood, here at lake Hopatcong, it is the beginning of the boating season and helps kick start the lake’s vibrant economy. Because of the generosity of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation the Knee Deep Club hopes to take what looked to be the worse trout season in club history and turn it into the best ever. Nothing the club stocks will ever be under 12 inches in length so we anticipate having more large and even trophy sized trout then ever before. Lake Hopatcong will be the number one trout fishing destination in the state, if we all work together.

But we are counting on our many supporters to help us with this effort. Whether you can afford $10, $20, $50 or $100 it will all add up and the first $5,000 will be matched by the generous grant put in place from our friends at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the Lake Hopatcong Foundation for their generous support and for once again showing how there is a true lake community here that can work together and meet any challenge.
