LEGENDARY FORTESCUE SKIPPER PASSES

Captain Arthur Rainear, 72, of Richland and Fortescue, N.J. passed away on January 27. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, he will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Art graduated from Glassboro State (now Rowan University) and was director of EIRC for 25 years. He was the founding president of the Fortescue Anglers, and former President of Fortescue Captains and Boat Owners Association. Art was also a member of the Five Points Horn Hunters. Art loved fishing and hunting with his son, grandchildren and brothers. He taught his grandchildren how to fish and was a great example of how a "Poppy" should be. He was an avid amateur photographer and especially liked taking pictures of his grandchildren while cheering them on at their many sporting events. He and his wife, Louise, enjoyed 51 years of marriage, part of which were spent at Bayview, their Fortescue summer home.

Art is survived by his devoted wife Louise (Cesario) Rainear, son Dr. Kristen Rainear, daughter-in-law Debra, grandchildren Sean, Marissa, Eric and Tyler, brothers Don and Doug Rainear, stepfather Frank Gergenti, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant son, Todd Michael and mother Lorraine Gergenti.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 31 at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. Burial was at St Mary’s Cemetery, Vineland, NJ.
