NEW BOOK FROM CHARLEY SOARES

Charley Soares has been writing feature articles for The Fisherman Magazine since the early 70s when the New England edition was simply known as The Connecticut & Rhode Island edition. His latest book, Living the Dream is in hand and ready for distribution. The book contains 41 of Charley’s favorite stories and some great photos and illustrations. It is the ideal reader for any inshore fisherman and will inform as well as entertain. Signed and personalized copies can be obtained directly from Charley at [email protected].

Charley Soares is a full-time outdoor writer, guide and lecturer who sold his very first story to Frank Woolner of Salt Water Sportsman in 1964. Charley has written an outdoor-fishing column for the Herald News Daily for the past 23 years and, together with his magazine articles, has sold over 3,500 editorials. He has won numerous first place awards during the years when he entered his work in the New England Outdoor Writers Association annual competition.

Charley has fished from Maine to Florida and has captained two teams that have won state and regional striped bass titles. He has built, planned and worked on numerous bass boat designs and is considered a specialist on bass boats, trailer boating and coastal striped bass fishing, as well as a pioneer in the area of fishing the tube and worm.

Although he fishes from Boston Harbor to Long Island Sound, Charley considers Narragansett Bay, Newport, Rhode Island to Westport Mass, Cuttyhunk and Vineyard Sound his preferred locations. He catches stripers using all the standard methods but believes that fooling jumbo stripers with a hunk of wood or plastic is the ultimate fishing achievement.
