Norwich Harbor is one of the best-kept secrets in the region, until now! The Harbor is one of a scant few locations on the east coast that has sportfishing for striped bass 365 days a year. Large quantities of fish have been documented and recorded in our harbor, enough so that harbor seals are making their winter home in Norwich.
The Norwich Harbor Commission intends to utilize this unique natural resource for tourism, recreation and overall community enjoyment – for people of all ages.
It is our intent to expand on the opportunities for boating, kayaking, canoeing, walking trails, summer concerts, festivals and other community-related events that promote the harbor as a premier destination for a variety of activities.
Currently we are focused on our upcoming Chelsea Harbor Arts & Recreation Gala on April 26th 2013, to be held at the Bozrah Moose Lodge. The goal of this event is raise awareness of the many facets of our harbor while generating funds for harbor projects and endeavors. Our kick-off project will be geared to raise funds for a live harbor camera, accessible from the Norwichct.org website. This new tool will show and entice our city, and other communities, to join in on the activity as seen on camera.
We hope to see and spend time with you on April 26th at this first time event.
