RFNE FUNDRAISER FOR OWEN HANECAK - The Fisherman

RFNE FUNDRAISER FOR OWEN HANECAK

As you may recall, last fall there was a major fundraising event and fishing tournament to help offset the costs of treatment for the son of one of The Fisherman Magazine’s family members. In early July of 2017, Owen Hanecak (the son of Fisherman Magazine field editor, John Hanecak) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL.) Owen was about 14 months old at the time of the diagnosis, and he has been courageously battling the disease for almost a year now. Those two events were a huge success, but Owen is not in the clear yet and medical bills continue to build up. Treatment will last several years, and the generous fishermen at Reel Fishing Northeast have banded together to throw a fundraiser on March 25.

The event is being held at the North Italian Home Club at 43 Thorpe Avenue in Meriden, CT. Doors open at 12:00 pm and the event will conclude around 8:00 pm. There will be thousands of dollars in raffle items up for grabs as well as some great food catered by Carl Ciarcia of Bread & Water (51 Warwick Street, Middletown, CT.) There will be snacks, soda, and beer served, and the club has a full bar. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go to back to the Hanecak family to assist in Owen’s treatment.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person and can be purchased online through PayPal at [email protected]. They will also be available at the door the day of the event.

More information on the event can be found HERE.

The following is a sampling of raffle items which have been donated to date. This list is growing with each passing day. If you’d like to make a donation for the raffle, please contact Dan Allegue at 860-965-4011 or [email protected]. If you’ll be unable to attend the event, you can still help out by making a donation through the gofundme page which has been set up to assist in the expenses of Owen’s treatment.
