RHODE ISLAND SETS 2016 SEA BASS REGS

The following RI Marine Fisheries Regulations (RIMFR) were filed May 11, 2016, as a result of public hearings held on February 16 and March 23, 2016, and RI Marine Fisheries Council meetings held on March 7 and April 20, 2016. Regulations become effective on May 31, 2016 and are as follows for the recreational black sea bass fishery in Rhode Island:

Minimum size:
Fifteen inches (15”). Minimum size measurement for black sea bass does not include the tendril located on the caudal (tail) fin.

Seasons and possession limits:

  1. June 24 through August 31: Three (3) fish per person per calendar day, whether caught within the jurisdiction of this State or otherwise.
  2. September 1 through December 31: Seven (7) fish per person per calendar day, whether caught within the jurisdiction of this State or otherwise.
