SALT WATER SPORTSMAN SEMINAR SERIES - The Fisherman

SALT WATER SPORTSMAN SEMINAR SERIES

The Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series brings its 2018 tour to Long Island, this Saturday, February 3rd. The 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. seminar will take place at LIU Post’s Hillwood Commons, Room 122, 720 Northern Blvd. in Brookville, NY. The National Seminar Series is the nation’s longest-running and most popular educational course on recreational marine fishing tactics and techniques. The tour is presented by Bass Pro Shops and hosted by George Poveromo, of George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing on the NBC Sports Network.

Each presentation on the eight-city tour is geared to the how-tos and where-tos of catching saltwater fish in that region — inshore, near shore and offshore. Courses at the Long Island event will focus on top trolling tactics for stripers; chunking for bluefish; inshore wire-line techniques; targeting trophy fluke; secrets of fishing the Montauk Rips; can’t-miss tuna trolling patterns; catching blackfish by the score, and more.

Teams of top local pros and nationally-recognized saltwater angling authorities serve as the faculty at each seminar. The faculty joining George Poveromo on Long Island will be: Nick Honachefsky – Normandy Beach-based authority on catching trophy fluke and blackfish, fishing the back-bays for striped bass, noted writer, author and fishing TV personality. “Crazy” Alberto Knie – Legendary trophy striped bass authority and innovative specialist at catching trophy class fluke and blackfish. Deena Lippman – Noted bottom-fishing authority and crew member aboard the Shinnecock Star. Captain Joey Leggio – Renowned Oceanside-based trophy striped bass and blackfish pro with Frankie James Fishing Charters. Dr. Mitchell Roffer – The nation’s leading authority on locating productive water surface temperature breaks and ocean-circulation features for near shore and offshore game fish. Justin Braun – Distinguished Long Island Sound striped bass and fluke pro and accomplished offshore- and canyon fishing specialist. Captain Sal Trapani – Veteran Montauk trophy striped bass, fluke, bottom fishing and near shore tuna pro with Moondance Charters. Captain Sean Reilly – Noted Northeast offshore fishing authority and accomplished wreck and bottom fishing specialist. Captain David Wicker – Noted marine electronics specialist and authority on reading the bottom and water column to locate fish. Alan Wenzel – South Florida-based offshore- and bottom-fishing specialist.

Long considered the best bargain in sportfishing, a National Seminar Series ticket is $55 and covers five hours of instruction from the best in the business, a new course textbook, a one-year subscription to Salt Water Sportsman magazine, and a considerable selection of gifts and gear.

Attendees can also win thousands of dollars in door prizes: the day’s grand prize is a Florida Keys fishing trip, and the series’ grand prize is a new Mako Pro Skiff 17 CC boat. For more information, and to order tickets, visit www.nationalseminarseries.com.
