The Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association invites your club’s team to participate in the tenth annual spring Surf Fishing Club Challenge. The Tournament will begin on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. and end on Sunday June 9, 2013 at 7:00 A.M. This is a New Moon weekend with good morning and evening High Tides. Each team enters their three largest striped bass and three largest bluefish to determine the Team Trophy winner. All fish must be caught from shore in Rhode Island waters only. There is a 32-inch minimum length for all striped bass entries.
The registration fee for this weekend-long, club tournament is $75.00 and all proceeds from the tournament will be donated to help fight Multiple Sclerosis. This disabling disease strikes people in the prime of their life. Rhode Island has one of the highest affliction rates, per capita, for MS in the United States.
An Awards Breakfast will be held at the Homestead Restaurant in Exeter, Rhode Island at 8:15 A.M. on Sunday, June 9. The Team Trophy Award and additional prizes for the Largest Striped Bass and the Largest Bluefish will be presented at the breakfast. There will be a tackle raffle at the breakfast too. The cost of the breakfast is $9.00 per person at the door.
Please send in your club’s registration fee by Friday, May 24, 2013. An advance email notice should be sent to RISAA Surfcasters Committee Chairman at rihome1@aol.com announcing your club’s participation. Any other donations that your club may wish to collect to benefit the MS Society can be brought along and presented at the breakfast. More information on the tournament, including rules, weigh-in stations, etc. will be provided shortly.
