TIGER MUSKY STOCKING IN MASSACHUSETTS

On October 27, 2015, the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife announced that is was beginning fall stocking of a batch of 900 tiger muskies which were acquired from the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Hakettstown State Fish Hatchery facility. The juvenile tiger muskies averaged 13 inches in length and weighed roughly 1/2 pound each. The fish are expected to take between 3 and 5 years before reaching the 28-inch minimum size limit of 28 inches.

All 900 fish were designated to be stocked into three state water bodies; Lake Chauncy (Westborough), A-1 Site (Westborough), and Spy Pond (Arlington). In past years additional lakes across the state including Pontoosuc Lake in Pittsfield, Hamden Ponds in Westfield, Cochituate Lake in Framingham, Mascopic Lake in Tyngsboro, South Watuppa Pond in Fall River and several others have been stocked with tiger musky. A complete list of all states and the year(s) in which they were stocked may be found at the MA Fish & Wildlife website.
