TIM SMITH ON ASSIGNMENT IN THE PACIFIC- OFFLOADING AND RE-PROVISIONING

We arrived in the port of San Diego yesterday (February 17th). The tuna was offloaded and provisions were restocked for the Excel’s next trip leaving this morning.

A big concern for traveling fishermen is what do I do with their catch. Fortunately, there are fish processing services which have solved this dilemma.

This fishing experience is like nothing I’ve done before. We traveled over 2800 miles at 10 knots. Imagine being on a floating hotel with gourmet meals just footsteps from what may be the most productive tuna grounds on the planet. That’s the beauty of San Diego long range fishing.
