Upcoming LIBBA Events

Saturday, March 11th, at Democrat Point, the Long Island Beach Buggy Association (LIBBA) will host a beach cleanup and bird fencing project. The event starts at 9 a.m. please meet in field number 2 at Robert Moses to pick up supplies. After the event, LIBBA dogs will be served.

Sunday, March 12th, at 1 p.m. will be their annual meeting. There will be food and drink, raffles, and LIBBA logo items for sale. Everyone is encouraged to attend. It will be held at the American Legion hall, 22 Grove Place, Babylon. Be on the lookout for an email if you are a LIBBA member so they can get a head count.

Sunday, April 2nd at 9 a.m. Robert Moses, field number 2, will be their Driving Class and Fishing Clinic. Come on down and listen to over 500 years of beach driving experience, giving tips and tricks to driving on the sand. Ask any questions you may have and see what equipment is required and what extra things are recommended to have on hand. Everyone is welcome; members new to beach driving are strongly advised to attend.

Saturday, May 6th, will be their cleanup at Shagwong. Thankfully not lots of human trash will be on the beach, but often a lot of driftwood, so come on down and get that fantastic piece of wood for yard decor. After the cleanup is finished, they’ll have their first fishing tourney of the year. Whoever has the biggest bluefish will win a $100 gift card to Paulie’s Tackle in Montauk. Cleanup starts at 9 a.m., and the tournament will probably be around 1 p.m. There will be people on the beach on Friday, so feel free to come and stay the night. Please, no ground tents; Suffolk County Beach permit is not required for this event.

There are no dates yet on the Christmas tree dune project. Also, be on the lookout for future cleanup at Smith Point County Park. Please reach out if you have any questions.
