The Connecticut Outfitters (CTO) Third Annual Greater Hartford Whisker Round-Up is in the books and once again it was a huge success! 82 anglers from across Connecticut and beyond converged on the Connecticut River near Hartford and found some great action on old Mr. Whiskers on the night of August 1 to the wee morning hours of August 2. There were 38 fish weighed-in and subsequently released back into the river with a total of $1,300 paid out as follows.
First Heaviest Fish – $575.00: 11 pounds, 9-1/2 ounces by Captain Joe Netolicky
Second Heaviest Fish – $345.00: 10 pounds, 10 ounces by Captain Joe Netolicky
Third Heaviest Fish – $230.00: 9 pounds, 15 ounces by Patrick Laughlin
Closest fish to drawn weight of 6 pounds, 5 ounces – $100 gift Card to CTO: 6 pounds, 5 ounces by Mike Kiczu
Smallest fish – $50 gift card to CTO: 8 ounce cat by Dan Compti
Special thanks to the Town of Wethersfield Parks and Recreation department who assisted greatly with truck/boat/and trailer logistics and costs at the beautiful Wethersfield Cove Park and Launch area. Also, almost everyone who weighed-in a fish received a brand new Lindy Legendary Tackle ball cap for free! Lastly, congratulations to all the anglers who braved the night for 12 hours to make this event as great as it was. Put the first weekend of August on your calendar for 2016 and don’t just sit there, GET OUT!
