A silent auction is being held by Healing the Wounds (HTW) – a charitable organization missioned to help/mentor the teenage children of our nation’s fallen heroes. Healing the Wounds operates as a solutions-based initiative that builds character, self-confidence and leadership skills – with an end goal of preparing surviving children to lead successful lives as responsible citizens.
HTW’s curriculum commences with an educational, wilderness experience in Alaska that’s conducted under the supervision of seasoned professionals and PhD’s (oceanography and marine sciences). Among other activities, the children will be exposed to coastal navigation, seamanship, safe-boating skills, marine life in natural settings and a dozen potential career paths. They are also certified in life-saving skills – first-aid and CPR. HTW is hosting the contest to raise funding in support of its permanent mission – to go operational during the summer of 2021.
On the auction block is a 2021 Pacific Skiff (Model 2325 Hardtop) – a premium, welded aluminum alloy boat that’s capable of handling some of the most challenging of seas. The vessel will be powered by a 225-250HP outboard (Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki) and delivered on an E-Z Loader trailer. Aluminum alloy is 33-50% lighter than glass, easier to maintain (no waxing), and is far more fuel efficient.
HTW Membership is required for participation in the auction. Bids will be accepted during the month of March. Non-boaters may opt for the wholesale cash value of the vessel. To become a member and register your bid, visit HTW’s website at: www.healingthewounds.org
