New Jersey & Delaware Bay - Delaware, Maryland & Chesapeake Bay Fishing Reports
New Jersey & Delaware Bay Video Fishing Forecast January 23, 2025
The countdown to March 1 and the opening of the outback striper season stands at 37 days. However, given the weather this week, you may be more likely thinking of the "ice out" date for the Great Egg, Mullica, Toms and Raritan rather than the bass and winter flounder opener. We're in Seaside Park for our annual "winter sale" broadcast this week, though with Grumpy Ray and even grumpier Jim on rival sides of the NFL gridiron this week an Eagles/Commanders bet is also on the sales table this weekend. Open Boat spotlights more of our view catches from '24, with a full rundown on the weekend fishing and show options in the region, as well as our weekly freshwater report along the frozen tundra at Beltzville Reservoir. For folks who like to know how their fish sausages are getting stuffed - from Trenton to DC - we'll spotlight fisheries management and future deliberations with a deep dive into two presidential executive orders this week that could impact the socioeconomics of recreational fishing in the future; the big question of course, is this really "the beginning of the end" for industrial offshore wind?

Nothing to report out of Delaware this week, as the cold weather has things fairly buttoned up in the First State. As a reminder though, on Wednesday, January 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, together with the Maryland Dept. of Natural Resources, Potomac River Fisheries Commission, Virginia Marine Resources Commission, and North Carolina Dept. of Environmental Quality will hold an information webinar related to the recreational reform initiative. The deadline for continuing this new harvest control rule is February February 15. For additional information find the article at TheFisherman.com’s homepage called Support Sea Bass, Fluke, Porgy & Bluefish Reform, or contact Delaware’s John Clark for meeting information at 302-739-9914.
