Fishing in the Diamond State served up some good action this past week according to Steve over at Smith Bait and Tackle in Leipsic. He mentioned some good perch and crappie fishing along with a few snakeheads are still being caught in the dam spillways. Garrisons, Massey Mills and other local waters are seeing some post spawn bass on the feed and crappies have taken up their summer pattern of early and late day fishing in most waters.

At Smith Bait Steve told us that croaker and trout have moved on to the Coral Beds off of Slaughter Beach. Bloodworms and peeler crab have been the top baits for both. Black drum are still around the same area and will take clams and peeler in the evening.

A call to Steve over at Smith Bait and Tackle in Leipsic got us word of some decent bass fishing starting to break out in the ponds and lakes in the center of the state. Some of the best fishing is on live lined shiners and topwater baits. Top spots this past week were Moore’s Lake, Massey Mills, Silver Lake, Garrisons Lake and Lums Pond we were told.

At Smith Bait Steve said the black drum bite at the Coral Beds off of Slaughter Beach continued last week with peeler crab the best bait followed by clams. White perch were caught on bloodworms from the tidal creeks and rivers.
