New Jersey & Delaware Bay - Delaware, Maryland & Chesapeake Bay Fishing Reports
New Jersey & Delaware Bay Video Fishing Forecast October 1st, 2026

After the nor’easter this past weekend, winds came up out of the W/NW to start the week, and we already have the very first fall reports of 50-inch and over striped bass along the north coast. We’re on the beach in Bay Head this week for this week’s video fishing forecast at the Jersey Shore; no ‘on camera’ striper blitzes just yet, just a whole lot of lanternflies! But the early signs to our north show the fall striper is may officially underway. Anglers are back in black sea bass in the Garden State, and the head boat fleet is actively sailing (for the most part) from ports up and down the coast. We have our weekly freshwater report from the Poconos, a look at upcoming events including the deadline for sending bunker comments to the ASMFC, and a response to lip synching scientists and awards with a shelf life, all in this week’s full video.

It was rain, over 3 inches at my house, and wind, upwards of 50 knots, which made fishing impossible for all of last week. The first week of October looks much better, but with extreme beach erosion and who knows what has happened to the bottom structure, it will be a learning experience when we finally get back out on the water.
