$30k In Prizes At The Fishing For The Mission 22 Second Annual Sea Bass Tournament!

Prepare for an exhilarating weekend brimming with daily prizes for both adult and junior anglers. Adult participants will have the chance to win from a generous cash prize pool sponsored by Kingman Yacht Center that exceeds $6,100. But there’s more… new for 2024 is the $22,000 Tagged Black Sea Bass Challenge, a bottom fishing challenge akin to the exhilarating “hole-in-one” contests seen at golf events.

In collaborating with Maco’s Bait and Tackle and the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, the eve of the tournament will witness the release of 22 specially-tagged black sea bass into the waters of Buzzards Bay. Those anglers fortunate enough to reel these tagged fish will be awarded $1,000 for each tagged catch. This thrilling opportunity allows participants to potentially catch multiple tagged fish, aiming for a grand total giveaway of $22,000.

The number 22 bears significant meaning, representing the daily loss of veterans to suicide in our country. Through this event, organizers aim to honor these individuals and raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention, while at the same time offering a uniquely challenging and rewarding fishing experience. There’s also fantastic news for families as children aged 12 and under can fish for free when accompanied by a registered adult.

There will be an extensive awards celebration on June 2, from 1 p.m.to 8 p.m.at Railroad Bridge Park in Buzzards Bay, along the banks of the Cape Cod Canal. The festivities will include a highly-competitive cornhole tournament, live music, an array of food trucks, and much more. This family-friendly event is open to everyone and is conveniently located right across from our resource center.

The Captain’s Check-In and Kickoff Party will be held at three Quahog Republic locations on Thursday, May 30th, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. additionally, there will be a kickoff party at Sharky’s Cantina in Oak Bluffs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
