On August 15, the Hudson River Fisherman’s Association (HRFA) will be hosting its 4theAnnual Catfish Chaos Derby on the Hudson River offering $500 for first place, $250 for second, $125 for third, and a host of kids’ prizes. HRFA said additional prizes will be awarded at each weigh station the day of the Derby.
Cost to register is $20 for adult and just $10 for youth under the age of 16. Fishing begins at 12:01 a.m. on August 17 and ends that afternoon at 3 p.m. You can fish anywhere on the Hudson River, by boat or by shore, with weigh several available weigh stations along the river including Coeyman’s Landing Marina, River View Marina, River Front Marina, Haverstraw Marina, Piermont Pier, and Westerly Marina. Winners determined by length.
Regrettably, HRFA doesn’t foresee the possibility of an awards ceremony given the COVID-19 closures and need to maintain safe social distancing.
