Have you been dragging your feet to get out fishing this year? Or, maybe, you’ve been wanting to get a friend or relative out for a day of fishing and relaxation, but you didn’t want to spring for the cost of a license. If you’re a Connecticut resident, you’re in luck! The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has set a date when anyone looking to enjoy a day of fishing in the state can do so for free, all you have to do is obtain a free 1-day fishing pass through the state’s licensing system.
The process is simple, start by letting your fingers do the walking, over to ct.aspirafocus.com/internetsales, create a free account and then go through the process of signing up for the free 1-day license. Hopeful anglers can do this up to three weeks in advance, but the license is only valid on August 9th, 2025. These one-day licenses are valid for both freshwater and saltwater fishing, from shore or boat. All other rules and regulations apply, including size and bag limits, lake-specific restrictions and gear restrictions, such as the circle hook law for striped bass. All anglers aged 16 and over must obtain the one-day license, (unless they hold a valid state license for 2025) in order to take advantage of this awesome summer opportunity from the state of Connecticut. Grab your gear, grab some friends and relatives and enjoy the amazing outdoors that great state of Connecticut has to offer.
