FAT COW JIG STRIPS - The Fisherman

FAT COW JIG STRIPS

Several years ago when Uncle Josh announced that they would no longer be producing pork rind jig strips, fishermen across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States lost their collective minds. Anglers began rushing around to all their local tackle shops, buying up the last of the stock of their favorite jig trailers. There was also a rush of pork rind that hit the secondary market as opportunistic anglers took advantage of the panic. Well, as expected, several companies stepped up and began producing pork alternatives. Enter Fat Cow Jig Strips.

Fat Cow Jig Strips are an American-made product that meets the wants and needs of anglers. Constructed out of super-durable synthetic material, these jig trailers perform just as good, if not better, than traditional pork rind in a wide variety of scenarios. I first used these trailers on a fluke trip last summer, and I was quite impressed with not only how well they swam, but how durable they were. Even after a bunch of fish were caught on a single jig-and-strip combo, there was no apparent damage to the Jig Strips and they continued to swim properly for the entire outing. What was even better, when the day ended and I headed home to reap the benefits of my day on the water, I didn’t have to remove the Jig Strips from my jigs as they will never dry out! Try doing that with traditional pork rind or even some of the modern biodegradable products on the market.

Available in four different shapes (Eel Tail, Fork Tail, Split Tail and Skinny Tail), six colors (red, chartreuse, white, yellow, pink and black) and six different lengths from 3 inches to 9 inches depending on shape, there is a Fat Cow Jig Strip option to suit your needs whether you fish freshwater or salt, surf, inshore or offshore. And for extra fish-attracting appeal, be sure to add any one of the six different available scents with Fat Cow Jigging Gel including eel, squid, shrimp, mullet, menhaden and ‘Inshore & Back Bay’ (a powerful cocktail containing squid, two types of shrimp, mullet, bunker, anchovies, and sardines).

The MSRP is $10.99 per jar for all colors and styles.
