Fred Golofaro Memorial South Shore Fishing Classic Returns October 23–25

The Fred Golofaro Memorial South Shore Fishing Classic returns October 23 through 25, bringing anglers together for a weekend of fall surf fishing along Long Island’s South Shore. Sponsored by Long Island State Parks and The Fisherman, the annual tournament honors the memory of longtime fishing editor Fred Golofaro while celebrating the region’s fall striped bass and bluefish fisheries.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete for cash and tackle prizes in several categories, including the three largest striped bass, bluefish and released striped bass. With the fall migration underway, the tournament offers anglers a chance to put their skills to the test while enjoying some of the season’s most anticipated fishing opportunities.

The entry fee is $20 per angler, with the awards ceremony scheduled to take place at Captree State Park at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 25. The ceremony will recognize the tournament’s top finishers and bring participants together to celebrate another year of the South Shore classic.
