Give To Casting For Recovery For Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness Month started in 1985 and is an annual international campaign in October to increase awareness about the disease, to raise funds to support research, prevention and treatment, and to find a cure. In addition, funds raised in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month go to support resources and programs like Casting for Recovery (CfR), that improve the quality of life for women with breast cancer.

CfR provides healing outdoor retreats for women with breast cancer, at no cost to the participants. CfR’s retreats offer opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life, and experience healing connections with other women and nature. The retreats are open to women with breast cancer of all ages, in all stages of treatment and recovery. For over 25 years, women from all walks of life have benefitted from CfR’s inspiring program model.

For women who have had surgery or radiation as part of their breast cancer treatment, the gentle motion of fly casting can be good physical therapy for increasing mobility in the arm and upper body. Couple that with the emotional benefits of connecting with nature, and you’ve got powerful medicine. Retreats are unconventional and described by many women as life-changing.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, consider making a donation to CfR during the month of October to help make a difference in the lives of women fighting to recover from breast consider.  A non-profit organization awarded 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 1998, donations are tax-deductible.

Visit castingforrecovery.org to learn how to donate, and be sure to visit the CfR “Shop” area of the website to find CfR branded merchandise included logoed outdoor apparel from Simms, fly line, Orvis nippers and more.
