In Memory Of Fred Schwab - The Fisherman

In Memory Of Fred Schwab

It is with extreme sadness that we report long time High Hill Striper Club member Fred Schwab passed away on July 4th weekend at the age of 84. Aside from being an elite surfcaster, Fred was a staunch advocate for the protection of our marine resources, especially striped bass, and served on several boards and committees over the years. He was also instrumental in the efforts of SOS (Save Our Stripers) to obtain gamefish status for striped bass in the 1960s and 70s, and to raise the size limit for striped bass from 16 inches to 24 inches in the early 1980s. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. His passing leaves a void in the surf fishing community that will never be filled. William A. Muller
