LAMIGLAS GSB SERIES SURF RODS - The Fisherman

LAMIGLAS GSB SERIES SURF RODS

There is no disputing that Lamiglas is a leader in the surf fishing rod market, and they have long been the rod of choice of many a surf rat up and down the East Coast and beyond since the first rod blank was rolled by the company in 1949 (which just so happened to be an 11-foot surf rod). I have been using Lamiglas rods since I first became serious about fishing the surf many years ago, and I have logged many thousands of casts with several different Lamiglas rods, both production and custom built. While many other fads and fly-by-night companies have come and gone, the GSB Series remains a staple among hard-core surfcasters; but this doesn’t mean that there wasn’t some room for improvement.

The GSB is great in any surf fishing scenario, but in the rocks, canals and on the jetties are where the GSB has been unrivaled for decades. Lamiglas is now offering the renowned GSB blanks in an incredible factory-finished surf rod series. The new design on the tried-and-true blanks includes custom X Flock grips, double-locking Fuji Deluxe DNPSSD reel seats, Fuji K-Series Concept tangle-free guides built to New Guide Concept (NGC) layout specifications for improved casting and fish-fighting performance, a “Mark of the 50" label set 50 inches from the butt and under a coat of epoxy to quickly measure that cow bass, rubber Fuji butt caps for blank protection, stealth black thread wraps with silver inlays and logos and two coats of slow-cure Flex Coat finish on guides and labels for super long-lasting protection. The rods retain the moderate action and durability that has become synonymous with the GSB series over the years. Every Lamiglas rod is carefully handcrafted in the USA from start to finish and features a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

The new GSB Series is available in 14 models from 8 to 11 feet in length and in both 1- and 2-piece versions. The “Skinner” rod was designed to the specifications of surf legend John Skinner, and the Old School or “OS” designation on two of the rods is a throw-back to the original action built into the rods when they were first debuted and which have been long sought-after by savvy surfcasters.

The rods range in price from $380 to $460 and can be found at your local authorized Lamiglas dealer.
