Whether you’re fishing for summer flounder in South Jersey, or fluking on the North Jersey grounds, there are a couple of longtime fluke tournaments coming up this weekend to get your competitive Gulp juices flowing.
On Saturday, July 16, Sterling Harbor Bait and Tackle in Wildwood will host their 29th Annual Duke of Fluke. With both boat ($400 entry) and kayak ($100 entry) divisions, the Duke of Fluke awards a variety of prizes for top summer flounder entries, including the coveted Duke and Duchess awards. The captains meeting will be held on Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. at Sterling Harbor, with a pig roast BBQ and awards ceremony featuring live music with Karate Garage and Steel:30. Up on the Raritan Bay, the Sandy Hook Bay Anglers will host their 40th annual Two-Day Fluke Tournament on July 16 and 17 out of the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor. Captains meeting is 7 p.m. on Friday, July 15 at the Senior Citizens Building.
