LOWRANCE ELITE-4 AND MARK-4 SERIES - The Fisherman

LOWRANCE ELITE-4 AND MARK-4 SERIES

They have super-size power in pint-size packages. That’s the message from Lowrance’s latest six-model lineup of dual-frequency sounders, which can be outfitted with Downscan imaging and chartplotter options, too. The series features both grayscale displays (Mark-4 units) and color ones (Elite-4 models). All of them sport a backlit, LED display that measures 3.5 inches (diagonal). If you drift past a solid bite, each Lowrance unit is equipped with Trackback, which enables anglers to scroll back on-screen and pinpoint the hotspot. Lowrance also employs its dual-frequency, transom-mount 83/200 kHz Skimmer transducer to provide 120 degrees of scanning coverage up to depths of 1,000 feet.

The Downscan option utilizes the even more powerful dual-frequency, DSI Skimmer transducer (455 kHz and 800 kHz) and it allows fishermen to effectively see detailed bottom structure, thermoclines, bait- and gamefish and even variations in vegetation. For those who would like to use their Lowrance Elite-4 or Mark-4 unit as a plotter, every model has a built-in GPS antenna and is “preloaded” with a U.S. base map and 3,000 enhanced lake maps and coastal contours down to 1,000 feet. There is also a Memory card slot, which can accommodate myriad mapcards, including Navionics’ Gold and Hotmaps Premium and Fishing Hotspots. Boating anglers can store up to a whopping 3,000 waypoints and 100 routes (with 100 waypoints per route) in this mighty mite. Pricing for the series depends on the base unit and options you choose, but the MSRP runs from $169 to $349. To see all of the Elite-4 and Mark-4 units.
