Elite series jigs heads incorporate 2x strong UltraPoint hooks to land big, powerful fish, with extended shaft lengths that are ideal for larger plastic and rubber baits. The lineup includes 10 styles of jigs, including a Bullet Head, Football Head, Shad Darter, Stand-Up Head, Shrimp Head, Tube Head, Crappie Ball, Steelhead Ball, Walleye Ball and Yellowtail Jig Head.
The Elite Jig Head series is the product of 18 months of intensive work with the Mustad Pro-staffers and design engineers. A special injection molding technique is used on these jigs to ensure uniform consistency and quality. The hooks on these jigs feature UltraPoint 4.3 technology, which makes them razor sharp and extremely durable. The hooks are also forged, using an opti-angle and feature a black nickel finish. The heads of these jigs also feature 3D eyes with hooks that are 2X strong and 2X long to place the point in the strike zone when using larger baits.

Mustad’s home base in Norway features their proprietary wire manufacturing operation, where individually sized wires are developed for each hook size. Having the production on their home turf makes it possible to control and produce the best possible quality.
Making the sharpest point can also translate to leaving it dangerously weak as a by-product, since the grinding and chemical sharpening process removes metal from the point of the hook. This can lead to the point rolling over when it comes into contact with gravel, or even losing sharpness when immersed in saltwater for extended periods of time. The UltraPoint three-stage grinding technology produces an incredibly sharp point, but because more of the metal remains, the point won’t roll or lose sharpness. The result is that these are some of the sharpest and strongest hooks in the world.
The point length of UltraPoint hooks are engineered to be 4.3 times the wire diameter of the hook, which is the optimum ratio for maximum sharpness and strength. UltraPoint hooks are 20 percent sharper and designed to stay sharper longer. They are created using state-of-the-art, three stage Opti-Angle sharpening technology, which removes less metal from the point than traditional methods without compromising sharpness. The hook is then put through an innovative three-stage, computer-controlled, “Nor Temper” tempering process. This advanced heat treatment transforms the hook into a fine-grained, ultra-strong micro-structure, increasing the strength up to 30 percent compared to conventional tempering methods. The result is an ultra-sharp, ultra-strong point that delivers quick, easy penetration and longer performance.
