NJ Fishing Flea Markets Celebrating 20 Or More Years In March

In between the multi-day events (Atlantic City Boat Show and Saltwater Fishing Expo), many fishing clubs and local nonprofit groups are hosting single day fishing flea markets in New Jersey this month.  These are terrific events highlighting local lure makers and tackle shops where you’ll find a variety of new and used tackle for sale, in addition to being able to book fishing charters in the season ahead.

On Saturday, March 2, the Fish Hawks Saltwater Anglers Club will host their 20th Annual Fishing Flea Market from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.at Lacey Elks Lodge #2518 at 900 Beach Blvd. in Forked River.  Admission is $4 (under 12 free with paid adult). For details visit fishhawksnj.com.

That Sunday, March 3, The Fisherman Magazine’s Jenni Ackerman will be out at “The Original Plug Show” as the Asbury Park Fishing Club’s 31st Annual Fishing Show returns to the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel at 1401 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park (across from Convention Hall).  The show runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with admission just $5.

After waiting in line for that favorite custom wood you’ve had your eye on, stop by and get your new or renewing subscription to The Fisherman and Jenni will hook you up a 4-inch Tidal Pro iPop popper from Tsunami for those sod bank schools,  For more information go to asburyparkfishingclub.com.

Another longtime favorite this month is the Manville Fire Company’s Annual Fishing Flea Market.   Held every year for close to 30 years at the Manville VFW Hall at 600 Washington Avenue in Manville, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is only $4 with children under 12 admitted free.  All proceeds benefit Manville Vol. Fire Co. #3. For details call Ed Brygier at 908-526-0403.

Another long-running fishing event in the Garden State is the 28th Annual Rahway Spring Fishing Flea Market on Saturday, March 23.  Held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Church Hall at 1400 St Georges Ave, Rahway, the event features plenty of new and used tackle and fishing gear.  Admission is $5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free.   Visit fishingfleamarkets.com or call 732-381-2165.
