DUAL DANCING STINGER HOOKS
With the increased popularity of vertical style jigging for a variety of saltwater species, lead and iron jigs have enjoyed a well-deserved resurgence over the past decade. With butterfly, knife-style and other unique jig shapes supplementing the more traditional “diamond” style jig designs, a different type of hooking system was developed (assist hooks) to enhance hook-up ratios for these dramatically different body shapes. Assist hooks are typically placed at the top of the jig’s connection to the main running line via a solid stainless steel or chrome-plated brass/bronze ring and unlike the diamonds that have hooks tethered to the aft/lower end, are not actually attached to the jig itself. The jig is then attached to the solid ring via a heavy duty split ring. This one small change decreases the likelihood of the fish using the stationary jig (when at an obtuse angle in its mouth) as leverage to spit the hook.
Owner’s Dual Dancing Stingers come conveniently rigged with twin hooks that can be rigged on almost any vertical style jig. The Junior version (in sizes #1, 1/0, 2/0 with an MSRP at $10 per pack) are made with high carbon steel hooks. The larger Guardian style Dual Dancing Stingers (offered in sizes 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, 6/0 at $11 per pack) are constructed from Owner’s proprietary Zo-Wire material. The points on both of these sized stinger hooks were designed to curve in slightly, so they are protected against prolonged banging against the jig sides. Both versions include snelled knots to promote efficient and positive hook sets. Fluorocarbon is threaded inside each arm to discourage hooks fouling on each other. There are a total of two rigs (4 hooks total) per pack.
STX-68 TREBLES
Surf rats, inshore fishermen and near offshore anglers will appreciate a stronger and lighter treble hook when casting poppers, swimmers and diving minnow plugs and that is precisely what they will get with the Owner STX-68. As tough as Owner’s proven ST-76 hooks, the new STX-68 trebles are 4X strong and manufactured from their proprietary Zo-Wire, which allows thinner wire hooks to be made while achieving the same strength as the heavier versions. This leads to stronger, longer lasting points, superior hook penetration and better bait action due to reduced weight. The STX-68s are perfect for upgrading large surface poppers, trolling baits and jigs. Features include forged shanks and a corrosion-resistant vacuum tinned finish. As with all Owner hooks, the STX-68 trebles are made from three separate pieces of wire to produce a perfectly balanced treble that allows baits to run true. STX-68 treble hooks are available in the following sizes (and quantity per pack): 2/0 (10), 3/0 (8), 4/0 (6), 5/0 (12), 6/0 (10), 7/0 (8).
