LIGHTER, STRONGER, BETTER
The new STX-58 treble features a new type of wire that is 20% stronger than the high carbon steel currently used in all previous and current Owner hooks. This new “ZO-WIRE” helps create treble hooks that are smaller in diameter, yet stronger and harder than ever before. The STX stands for Stinger Treble eXtra, as in extra strong, extra lightweight, extra sharp and extra good.
The single most important characteristic for hook penetration is the wire diameter. ZO-WIRE hooks are stronger per wire diameter than just about any other hook on the market, so hook-sets are fast and sure. The hardness of ZO-WIRE makes the point almost indestructible and it is typically immune to the dreaded “bend over” of the thinner point section of competitive treble hooks, which will really compromise your hook-ups. The harder wire will also keep its point edge longer. In addition to being stronger, these new ZO-WIRE STX-58 treble hooks are also lighter than conventional wire trebles. The benefit of this attribute is that your baits and lures will have more freedom of motion and won’t be bogged down like they will with heavier treble hooks.
The new ZO-WIRE treble hooks are manufactured in standard lengths, with a slightly curved-in Sproat bend and a super needle point tip. These new ZO-WIRE trebles are also extremely corrosion-resistant and can withstand the vagaries of the harsh saltwater environment with a vacuum tin finish that features a second “clear coat” over the primary finish for the ultimate in hook longevity, whether out on the briny or working your favorite freshwater lake or stream.
MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS
When putting these new Owner STX-58 trebles to use on the water, the first two applications that come to mind are swapping out some of the trebles on your fave popping, darting, diving or trolling plugs that are destined to catch powerful big game species like stripers, blues and small tunas. The lighter weight, sharper and stronger points and faster penetration and hook-sets on these new ZO-WIRE trebles are all major plusses that will not only make your lures work better, but will offer added assurance when you’re hooked up and battling a big one. Upgrading to larger hooks on topwaters and other plugs can often alter the action in ways you won’t like. But Owner’s STX-58 ZO-WIRE trebles are much stronger than similar diameter wire, so you can get away with larger hooks, for increased hook-up and catch ratios, without adding weight that might compromise the action of your lure or bait.
