Eddie Terribile caught this 8.56-pound weakfish out of the Great South Bay and weighted it into Saltwaters Bait and Tackle in West Islip to grab him a spot in the weakfish category for The Fisherman Magazine’s Dream Boat Challenge.Close but a couple of meals short of 10 pounds was Brian Alcott’s 9.2-pound fluke he caught on the Reel Impact out of Brooklyn on June 26th.“Like the good days in the 70s” is how Adam Olszewski described the weakfish bite in Jamaica Bay in the beginning of July.Alyssa Sussman let us know the fluke bite has been solid on Cannonball Charters out of Massapequa.“It was a husband and wife team effort” said Anthony Cutinella’s wife Linda who was actually on the reel and Anthony was the net-man. The 9-1/2-pound doormat was too big for Linda to hoist up for a photo so Anyhony did the honors.Ed Larson made the trip from Charlotte, North Carolina to fish the fabled waters off Montauk Point on the Trophy Hunter on June 18th. He ended up jigging several stripers, including this one he released after a quick photo.Within sight of the Ponquogue Bridge in Shinnecock Bay, Jeff Lamont hooked into this striper while fluke fishing.While fluking inside Jamaica Bay, Tauras Vebeliunas caught this 42-inch cobia on a Spro bucktail. “I’ve been kayak-fishing New York waters over 20 years, and fishing over 40 years. This is a new first for me for the NY area!” said Tauras.
