A look at a few terra firma catches sent by The Fisherman readers.

It’s getting to be that time of year again.

While a lot of folks pull their boats immediately after Labor Day, most hardcore anglers keep their boats tied up at the dock for as long as humanly possible.  Perhaps it’s the first freeze, or maybe be forced to turn off the outside water which of course means it’s next to impossible to fresh-flush those four-strokes.  And then there’s also the fact that a lot of local marinas simply close up for the season, sending boaters home until the spring.

But even if you’ve got the bubblers going and plan to continue on into the 2027 season, there are plenty of land-based options for anglers looking to score from shore.  True, surfcasters are in their ultimately glory right now during the fall run of stripers, but based on a few emails I receive at jhutchinson@thefisherman.com, it’s not just linesiders at the end of line.
