I’ve been a fan of Huk Apparel for quite a few years and can’t say enough about their fishing shirts (Icon X and Tide Point) and Huk Rogue Wave boots in terms of comfort and durability. As you begin to prep for the summer action, one new Huk (sounds like hook) item to look for this season is their A1A Short.
Named for the Florida highway running through the Keys, A1A line can handle all-day wear thanks to its anti-microbial fabric, while featuring key design elements dedicated to active anglers. Offered with UPF 50+ protection from the sun, the 100% polyester cooling fibers, four-way stretch and perforated fabric provide breathability to keep you comfortable in the heat, both on land and on water.
The men’s A1A 8.5-inch (inseam) shorts are made from 92% polyester and 8% spandex which provides four-way stretch for great mobility while in summer action. The shorts have all-over perforation for extreme all-over breathability, and the fact that they’re quick-drying is a big plus when keeping busy in the cockpit.
The shorts are constructed with an adjustable waistband to make a perfect fit; while I know I haven’t done a great job turning down desserts over the winter, I have found from the Huk sizing chart that going a tad larger in the sizing is recommended (the belt loops are a nice touch). Available in small (waist 29-31″), medium (waist 32-34”), large (waist 35-37”), XL (waist 39-41”), XXL (waist 43-45”) and XXXL (waist 46-48”), and three colors (Volcanic Ash, Overcast Grey, and New Khaki) at $70 MSRP (add $5 for XXXL), the Huk A1A are great for wearing around the docks or while buttoned up to a schoolie bluefin or doormat fluke.
