One of the most solid conclusions I’ve come to over the years is that being comfortable while fishing is a top priority. I can focus more on what’s going on around me and spend more time on the water instead of packing it in due to discomfort.

Back in 2008, the company Gillz was founded with one main goal in mind; they wanted to build a high-quality line of performance products with the angler in mind. From the time the sun rises to when it sets, their line of products was designed to keep you, the angler, cool, calm, and collected, leading to more enjoyable and successful outings.

I’ve personally fished with Gillz products under the intense Florida sun for peacock bass all the way to Long Island, targeting stripers and bluefish where the days can be humid and long. Using the same product yielded the same results in both scenarios—total comfort and being able to withstand uncomfortable conditions for the entire duration of my trips which led to better catches and more time fishing.

The men’s Tournament Hoodie was a favorite of mine. It’s a lightweight hooded pullover with 360-degree ventilation that provides breathability even on the hottest days and an extra layer on the cooler days. Their products have UPF 50+ protection so you can stay in the sun all day without worrying about harmful UV rays.

I even grew quite fond of their Waterman Packable Jacket. Usually, wearing a jacket can be uncomfortable for me, but when rain showers decide to show up, having a jacket I could fit into my pocket really comes in handy. The taped seams and DWR treatment provides the ultimate experience in waterproof protection. It is designed with mechanical stretch for movement and comfort. As a non-jacket wearer, I can say this lightweight jacket was enjoyable to wear on the muggiest of days.

The men’s Tournament Hoodie retails for $54.99, and the Waterman Packable Jacket comes in at $69.99. To see more Gillz Gear, visit
