Reader Gallery: Mid-Summer Fluking

Some fantastic fluke catches from this summer so far!

As water temps climb and bait fills the bays, summer fluking across Long Island is in full swing. Anglers working the incoming tide with bucktails, jig heads, Gulp and bait combos are finding quality fish from the back bays to the inlets. Whether you’re drifting sandy channels or bouncing structure near the ocean’s edge, fluke are feeding aggressively this time of year. Keep an eye on tide movement, mix in spearing or squid strips when needed, and don’t be afraid to go big with your baits – those summer doormats are on the hunt!
