The Rhode Island Aquatic Resource Education Program is proud to announce its upcoming Youth Fly Fishing Day, a hands-on introductory workshop designed specifically for aspiring anglers ages 10 to 15. The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the scenic Addieville East Farm in Mapleville, RI.
This immersive program breaks the myth that fly fishing is only for adults. Participants will receive expert instruction from dedicated volunteers representing Trout Unlimited, Rhody Fly Rodders, and the United Fly Tyers of Rhode Island. Students will rotate through various stations to learn the fundamentals of fly tying, essential casting techniques, equipment management, and effective on-water strategies.
The day is designed to be a comprehensive educational experience; lunch will be provided for all attendees. To ensure a safe and supportive environment, a parent or guardian is required to remain on-site for the duration of the class.
