With April now upon us and the striped bass migration fast approaching, The Saltwater Edge is preparing to host the ultimate pre-season celebration. On April 11th, the shop at 1376 West Main Road in Middletown, RI will transform into a hub for the local angling community, offering a full day of gear, expert advice, and the finest custom plugs, lures and surfcasting gear available.
The center of the action will be the plug tent located in the side lot. This showcase features custom wood and specialized tackle from a lineup of the most respected builders in the industry, including Chris Voorhies, Surf Asylum, BigWater Pikes, Gremlin, Guppy, GooGoo Man, Franktown, Paul Moriarty, RB Plugworks, 401 Plugs, and many others. This portion of the event is free to the public and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
Inside the shop and around the tent, enthusiasts can connect with factory representatives from premier brands like Van Staal, Tsunami, Temple Fork, and Simms. The store will be fully stocked and ready to fulfill all pre-season rigging needs, while local food trucks will be on-site serving a variety of unique and delicious cuisine throughout the day.
Following the morning plug show, the focus shifts to education during the Surfcasting Expo from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This ticketed session offers a deep dive into the sport with panel discussions, interactive Q&As, and hands-on demonstrations led by some of the most accomplished surfcasters in the game. Tickets for the Expo are $50 and include event access as well as one raffle ticket.
