Saltwater Underground’s Nick Honachefsky is kicking off his 5th Annual Barrier Island Beach Brawl surf fishing tournament on Friday, October 6 and running through Saturday October 7.  Based out of Playa Bowls and the Crabs Claw Inn in Lavallette, with over 15 eligible species including bluefish, weakfish, kingfish, false albacore, pompano, triggerfish, bonito, Spanish mackerel, croaker, hickory shad, blackfish, black drum, red drum, sheepshead and a striped bass photo/release only category.

“Last year the tournament dished out over $25,000 in free fishing gear and cash prizes, donated 60 pounds of fresh fish fillets to Point Pleasant Pantry charity to feed the homeless and hungry, and raised nearly $2,000 dollars for St. Jude charities,” Honachefsky said, adding “Everybody goes home with something.”

Barrier Island Beach Brawl entry is only $45, and it’s a surf tournament that’s fun for all families and friends, with kids 12 and under free.  Look for entries at tackle shops from Point Pleasant to Seaside Park, or register by visiting www.saltwaterunderground.com/barrierislandbeachbrawl or contact tournament director Nick Honachefsky at [email protected] for more details.
